Going with Air-Air or Air-Water?

Air/Air. Air/Water is too complicated for the value.[/quote]

I was just wondering since he had air/water on the Jetta But looks like he has plenty of room for an air/air intercooler up front and definitely way simpler!

Heard rumors the 944 transmission was actually an Audi trans just stuffed in the back. Consider this visual confirmation - B5 quattro trans next to 944 trans. Almost exactly the same bell housing face with minor differences.

I don't think the overall appearance of the transmission is the same.... some parts, yes. What about the insides?

General dimensions are different but the bell housing mating surface to engine is nearly identical. A B5 Audi is a solid 15yrs after the 944; an Audi 4000 transmission of the same vintage has the same steel midsection as the Porsche box. I suspect the output shaft is different as the 944 uses a female coupler rather than a male pilot bearing like the Audi. Trying to find a pic of the Audi 4000 trans...

About time you started working on this again. It's been like 7 months. What's your excuse for not having the time to work on this? :P

Update - chopped up a couple things. Thanks to Achilles and Jason at VEMS for help late into the night.

1) B5 Audi A4 Transmission. Bell housing/starter flange scans.
2) 944 Transmission. Torque tube face scan.

Parts shipped out today to a 3D scan shop. Progress was at a standstill during the coldest months of the winter but picking back up again now...
