This could be fun ... or a disaster. New to me project needing a full rework if it can be saved.

Summer/fall 2016: Disassemble/break down to rolling chassis. Deliver to body shop.
Winter 2016/17: Sheet metal repair/paint. Rebuild /prepare driveline. Refinish chassis systems for electrical, climate controls, fuel, brakes etc.
Spring/Summer 2017: Reassemble, fine finish and drive.

Wow... that floor is really really really bad.

Planning a restore (100% stock) or some upgrades?

Upgrades... maybe jetta guts. Would like to be close to stock appearance, no crazy body mods.

flinstone floors.

vr6 turbo swap?

Car looks pretty clean other than floors. If it's just floors, then not that bad of a fix. My mk2 is similar...really decent body, bad drivers side floor...but not nearly that bad..

sure do like the mk2 gti though, good luck with the project
