Bought a mint 80 Scirocco project. I was going to do a 3.6T, DSG, and quattro. But have kids, So decided to restore to original instead. It came with NOS side moldings(still in the packages), new interior, re-painted, many new correct parts, and many not so correct. I have a 1.6L head that is sad, but no long block.

Car came with a complete rebuilt 1.8L, head is perfect. One cylinder wall has a deep rust pit from a drop of water. Zero miles on complete rebuild and needs to be bored over. PO spent 20 years restoring car and gave up after he got all the parts together, because the windshield cracked. So now I'm looking for one.

interested in just about any mk1 scirocco parts

I have a 1980 short block in my basement. 85k I believe. no head just the short block. spayed the cylinders with greese when I stored it, its either a 1.6 or a 1.7, if you are in the know they both say 1.6 on the block. sell it cheep $50 I also have a low mileage 83or84 gti 1.8 complete long block, mild cam,and cam sprocket, if you want to look stock, but go a bit faster. $150

Why not go with 1.8 and 5 speed? Trying to go original equipment?
