Hello. I am in desperate need of a 16v motor and trans in decent shape ready to install in my 88 gli.

I would prefer a complete set up, but mainly need the block and trans/clutch.
Ideally looking for delivery to Larson's in Stowe in possible.

Someone must have something kicking around?

Thanks alot, Dave

I'll need to check it. It's the one that some guy in Morrisville built up, and it went into a black Cabriolet, that my buddy bought from Sam. The Cabriolet was flooded, though the engine never got water in it as the oil drained out pure oil.

But, it ought to have the oil pan and valve cover pulled to be checked out, as it is an unknown engine. The exterior looks all new...

Price dependant on actual condition, as determined by Larson...

Ok, the car should be delivered to Larson's later this week. Probably going to need a tranny too, but we will see.
Do you know the year/mileage? Any idea what work was done to it?
Thanks again

Unsure of the actual vintage. It "looks" freshly rebuilt, but that doesn't neccessarily mean anything. If the wrong person did the work, that doesn't increase the value at all.

What car is this going into? I don't have the CIS or engine harness for it, but it does have the BahnBrenner fuel rail on it already.

mk2 jetta 16v gli converted from cis-(e?) to digi2.
Motor was running, but burns a ton of oil. My clutch locked up (I suspect the throw-out bearing/push rod is totaled) and I think the timing slipped a couple teeth while trying to start it in gear with the brake on.

It should be more or less plug and play right?

Yeah, I believe so.... Since you've already got all the engine harness parts....

Here is the only pic I have of it from way back.... I'll get some current pics soon.

Sam is the P.O. I knew he had a spare motor but lost the contact info.
I believe the motor pictured has several of the original parts from mine.

Assuming Larson approves, you're welcome to come get this engine....

And like I said, if he pulls it open and it is all brand new and perfect, I'd appreciate getting a fair price for it, but if he evaluates it as nothing more than a boat anchor, I'll be glad to just have it disappear. Ha

That would be best if possible. The car will be at his shop this week. Not sure when he'll be able to get started.

Most likely looking for a tranny as well depending on what is actually damaged.
